The company owns a chain of supermarkets and makes its own food products. It is owned by Ceylon Theaters Ltd., which owns and operates a chain of cinemas.

The company earlier this year set up a new unit, Cargills Dairy Foods, after it acquired a modern ice cream factory from the Sri Lankan subsidiary of Anglo-Dutch  consumer goods giant Unilever.

Page, speaking at the official launch of the company’s ice cream products – “Cargills Magic” – said it will first introduce its products at nearby markets like India and the Maldives once it consolidates its local dairy operations, reported Dow Jones Newswires.
