US meat giant Tyson Foods has announced plans to expand its production facility at Amherst, Ohio.
The move will create an additional 220 jobs, Tyson said.

It intends to increase production lines and up volume at the plant which makes sandwiches for brands including Jimmy Dean.
Tyson said the move “will support the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality protein across the country and its expansion of leading protein brands”.
The facility has already seen investment of around US$20m over the last year.
Brandy Shaw, Amherst plant manager, said: “We are very excited to grow in Amherst. We already employ 525 people in the facility and are looking forward to adding more team members to our Tyson family.”

By GlobalDataTyson, which has seen a number of facilities closed on a temporary basis because of the spread of Covid-19 amongst employees, said all new hires at Amherst will adhere to new guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
Shaw said: “We have transformed the way we operate and have put in place a host of protective steps for preventing Covid-19 at our facility, We are conducting temperature checks, wellness questionnaire before every shift, providing mandatory protective face masks to all team members, and implementing social distancing measures.”
