The deal with Glanbia basically doubles the size of Cardiff-based Peter’s operations. GFS employs 500 people in its Tamworth, Staffordshire-based central distribution facility and eight other regional depots.
Following the deal, Peter’s will control a 1,600-strong workforce and generate an annual turnover of around £200m (US$313m).
John Griffiths, chairman of Peter’s Food Service, commented: “The acquisition not only enhances the service that Peter’s currently provides but facilitates more significant expansion of the business to other sectors such as pubs, hotels and leisure.”
