Riverside, a Canada-based company which makes healthy granola bars under the MadeGood brand, is launching in the UK.
The bars, already available in Canada, the US and other markets, are organic and vegan and described by the Concord, Ontario-based company as “safe for schools” because they are allergy-friendly.
The MadeGood bar is being sold by UK ‘big four’ supermarket chain Asda in three flavours: Choc Chip, Banana and Mixed Berry.
Riverside said its products are free from allergens including nuts, peanuts, egg, soy, dairy and gluten and they are made in a facility free from the most common allergens.
The bars will be distributed in the UK by Netherlands-based arm Riverside International.
Its managing director, Andy Van Ham, said: “The number of children in the UK with a food allergy or sensitivity is significant and is on the rise. Despite best efforts by schools, there is always an underlying concern from parents that their kids may eat something that could cause them harm, either in their own lunchbox or when sharing food with friends.
