French food retailer Hyparlo, a partner company of retail giant Carrefour, has reported a first half net loss of €0.61m (US$0.60m), compared to a first half net profit of €1.33m in 2001.
In the six months to 30 June, Hyparlo recorded revenue of €528.2m, a slight increase on last year’s H1 revenue of €504.5m.
Last year’s first half operating loss of €1.62m was turned around to a H1 operating profit of €5.35m this year, mainly due to improvements in the company’s three Italian hypermarkets.
Hyparlo aims to record a turnover of €1.1bn in 2003 from its 17 hypermarkets, 12 of which are in France, three in Italy and two in Romania.
