Finnebrogue Artisan, the UK-based sausage and bacon supplier, is to invest GBP17m (US$22.4m) in a new bacon processing plant.
The Downpatrick, Northern Ireland-based company behind products such as the nitrite-free Naked Bacon, is aiming to create around 125 jobs with the move.

Just weeks ago the company announced it had moved into the vegetarian and vegan markets with a GBP3m investment in a new production facility.
Finnebrogue supplies to major UK retailers including Asda and Sainsbury’s.
The company began production of its Naked Bacon products last year, and with GBP1.3m of financial support from government investment body Invest NI and a new manufacturing facility in place, hopes to grow sales of the brand to GBP23m by 2022.
Brian Dolaghan, executive director of business and sector development with Invest NI, quoted in the Irish Times newspaper, said Finnebrogue’s nitrite-free bacon has “been welcomed by top food scientists as a significant advancement in food safety and has already found a market among health-conscious consumers”.
