Frostkrone, the Germany-based frozen-food supplier, has snapped up Varenne Gastronomie, a company manufacturing finger food over the border in France.

In a statement, Frostkrone said the deal, struck for an undisclosed sum, adds finger food to its range and further expands its presence internationally.

Frostkrone pointed to its move last April to buy the minority stake in French peer Piz’wich it did not own.

“We are strengthening our position in the market and pursuing our growth targets in a stringent and future-oriented manner,” Frédéric Dervieux, the managing partner of Frostkrone, said.

Varenne’s product portfolio includes mini corolles, mini croustillants and pastilla. Dervieux added: “In order to continue being successful, it is important to offer our retail and foodservice customers a varied and tailor-made range of deep-frozen finger foods and snacks.”

Richard Ortiz, founder and managing director of Varenne Gastronomie, will continue to run the business’ operations. He said: “I am proud and honoured to become part of the Frostkrone team, contributing to the growth targets envisaged and giving a new impetus to Varenne Gastronomie.”
