The Bureau is now recommending a ‘cautious approach’ to the commercialisation of genetically modified wheat as opposed to an outright moratorium.
According to an article in the Grand Forks Herald, delegates at the farm group’s recent annual meeting voted 56-49 to make the change.
State Farm Bureau President Eric Aasmundstad of Devils Lake said Monday [yesterday] that the change of the year-old policy “brings us more in line with the core philosophy of our organisation.
“We’re very supportive of free enterprise. Let the market dictate what is going to happen,” Aasmundstad said.
