Troubled US doughnut maker and retailer Krispy Kreme has said it has missed the extension deadline for filing its Form 10-Q for the third fiscal quarter.

On 13 December, the company said it would be late filing its quarterly report for the period ended 31 October 2004 due to ongoing analysis related to “the accounting treatment of certain franchise matters in the company’s third fiscal quarter”, primarily concerning the company’s consolidation of KremeKo, its area developer for Central and Eastern Canada.
Krispy Kreme, which had filed for an extension until 15 December, said it would file the quarterly report as soon as is practicable “following the completion of its ongoing analysis”.
The company said this analysis is primarily related to the timing of consolidating KremeKo, and the accounting treatment of certain other franchise matters including the classification of certain items in the company’s third fiscal quarter.
Krispy Kreme said it believes the outcome of the analysis will not have a material impact on its net loss for the third quarter.
