The company, which filed an extension for an extra five days, said the delay was due to accounting problems, reported the Associated Press.

When filing for the extension, Krispy Kreme chief financial officer Michael Phalen said the company was still analysing the accounting of “certain franchise matters in the company’s third fiscal quarter, primarily concerning the company’s consolidation of KremeKo”.

KremeKo, which is 34% owned by Krispy Kreme, operates the company’s stores in Canada. KremeKo said this week it plans to close three Krispy Kreme stores in Ontario.
