Spain’s olive oil production rose 65% year-on-year to a total of 1.4 million tonnes for the 2003/2004 season to 31 October 2004, according to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Sales of Spanish olive oil rose 12%, while exports rose 18% to 632,100 tonnes and domestic demand rose 7% to 630,700 tonnes, reported the Spanish News Digest.
Production for the 2004/05 season is expected to be slightly lower.
