US nutritionals-to-pharma group Abbott Laboratories is planning to “double down” on its presence in the US snacking sector.
The company plans to add to its new snack bar, Curate, with a further line of bars for children in April, a spokesperson for the company told just-food.
Yesterday, Abbott announced the launch of six snack bars under the Curate brand.
“We know our consumer is always looking for something new, so we have a plan to always surprise her with new flavours and snacks,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said Abbott believed it could gain a foothold in a crowded market for healthy snacks in the US.
“While there are hundreds of healthy snack brands on store shelves, we saw that consumers weren’t quite satisfied and were often looking to make their own snacks using ingredients from their kitchen. We saw this as an opportunity to create a culinary-minded snack brand that tastes handcrafted with rich texture and unique flavour combinations you would expect from a chef and ingredients you can find in nearly every grocery or natural food store,” the spokesperson said.
