French agricultural and food processing group Agrial is to acquire the country’s Toque et Fruits fruit firm for an undisclosed sum.

Toque et Fruits is a majority-owned subsidiary of France’s Fruitiere du Val d’Evel. Under the terms of the acquisition, Toque et Fruits will continue to produce its range of fruit products such as jams, pies and sorbets, but they will be marketed by and sold under Agrial’s Florette brand, the co-op said.

The acquisition is the latest in a series by Agrial, which produces Crealine purees and soups and Primeale raw fresh vegetables.

In July last year, Agrial acquired the Dutch vegetable group Van Oers United for an undisclosed sum. Van Oers supplies the retail and foodservice market in more than 15 European countries. In November, the group announced the finalisation of plans to merge its dairy business with that of another French co-operative Eurial.

Earlier this year Agrial confirmed plans to acquire domestic fruit and vegetable exporter, Jean L’Hourre, to offer its customers a broader range incorporating vegetables produced by its co-operative members.

Agrial reported turnover in 2015 of EUR4.8bn (US$5.3bn).
