French agricultural and food processing group Agrial has announced plans to acquire domestic fruit and vegetable exporter Jean L’Hourre.
Agrial said yesterday (12 January) the deal would allow it to offer its customers a broader range incorporating vegetables produced by its co-operative members.
The company also said the transaction would lead to achieve operational synergies, particularly in sales and marketing.
Agrial and Jean L’Hourre said they expect to finalise a memorandum of understanding by the end of March. The acquisition would be made through Agrial’s vegetables subsidiary Priméale.
In July, Agrial acquired the Dutch vegetable group Van Oers United for an undisclosed sum. Van Oers supplies the retail and foodservice market in more than 15 European countries.
In November, Agrial announced the finalisation of plans to merge its dairy business with that of another French co-operative Eurial.
