Amplify Snack Brands is launching the Lisa’s organic crisps brand in the UK, a mark the US group attained when it bought Tyrrells last year.

The “organic” and “craft” Lisa’s brand has been rolled into Whole Foods Market outlets and independent stores in the UK.

UK crisp maker Tyrrells acquired Lisa’s when it snapped up German organic crisp maker Aroma Snacks last May. At the time, then Tyrrells CEO David Milner told just-food the company wanted to subsequently launch a line of organic crisps in the UK by the end of 2016, although the company was unsure under which brand the snacks would be marketed.

Three months later, Amplify Snack Brands bought Tyrrells from Bahrain-based private-equity firm Investcorp in a cash-and-shares deal worth GBP300m.

Brand manager Julie Davies said Lisa’s represented “a unique position” for the UK market.

“Organic and craft are exciting trends right now and the Lisa’s range, made in the foothills of the Alps from organic potatoes, allows us to bring a unique proposition to the UK snacks category,” Davies said. “Made with incredible ingredients and hand cooked to a perfect crisp, we’re excited to create a craft crisp movement to compliment the surge in interest in other craft products such as ales and gins.”
