Finnish food group Apetit has appointed Anu Ara as director for its struggling food unit, reporting directly into group CEO Juha Vanhainen.

Ora is commercial vice president at local retailer Suomen Lähikauppa, where she has worked in various management positions since 2010.

Vanhainen said the move was part of the group’s aim to improve the performance of its food business, which prompted it to issue a profit warning in March.

“We are strengthening the competitiveness of our food business and enhancing its customer and consumer orientation in a changing operating environment. We are very pleased to have a professional like Anu Ora join the Apetit team. She has strong credentials from the Finnish retail trade, especially in managing supply chains, and extensive experience in strategic business development in international environments.”
