The European Union has launched the first stage of disputes proceedings at the World Trade Organisation against Argentina, whom it accuses of wrongfully imposing countervailing duties on imported EU canned peaches.
Argentina recently introduced an additional specific duty of US$0.50 per kg on the products, as well as raising the relevant tariffs to 35%.
