In an update on the business, delivered earlier this week (9 March), Metcash said that it is “considering meat facility acquisitions” to provide case ready meat solutions.

The group also indicated that it is developing concepts in other fresh product categories, including Baker’s Oven, Lenard’s Poultry and Retail Ready Meats.

In order to cash in on the growth of private label, the wholesaler is expanding and relaunching the private-label options it offers its retail customers.

Updating the market on the previously announced initiative, Metcash said it had made progress on its plan to double its core Black & Gold label and revamp its premium offering.
