Australian dairy group National Foods is set to get a new chief executive from prospective sister business Lion Nathan, the brewing giant, which is in the process of also becoming a subsidiary of Kirin Holdings, the Japanese food and drinks group.

Lion Nathan said today (25 September) that Andrew Reeves, MD of its operations in Australia had been lined up to replace Ashley Waugh as CEO and MD of National Foods next month.
Waugh had given notice of his plan to leave National Foods once Kirin’s proposal to take full control of Lion Nathan wins court approval in Australia. Kirin bought National Foods, the maker of brands including Cracker Barrel and Coon cheese, in 2007.
“During his time with Lion Nathan, Andrew has worked tirelessly with his team to execute a strategy focused on four key drivers – building great brands, innovating for growth, investing to create a world-class brewing asset and investing in people capability,” said Lion Nathan CEO Rob Murray.
“His experience places him well to ensure the continuation of quality leadership at National Foods.”
