Woolworths Ltd, Australia’s largest grocer, has recalled its Lite milk brand in a number of its stores due to possible microbiological contamination.

The recall of Fresh Milk Lite 2 litre applies to all stores in Victoria and Albury, Corowa, Lavington and Moama stores in New South Wales.


The products affected have a use-by date of 6 December 2009 and apply to products in both Woolworths and Safeway outlets in these areas. The recall also applies to Caltex Woolworths/Safeway Petrol outlets in Victoria.


No other Woolworths products (including other milk products) are known to be affected by the recall.


Consumers who have purchased the affected products are being advised to return the product to their nearest Woolworths or Safeway supermarket for a full refund.
