A board faction has been calling for Wallis to resign with immediate effect rather than after the AGM in November as planned, but he yesterday [Wednesday] succeeded in securing his position until his planned departure.
Sources close to Coles told Reuters that Allert, a director at the company and an accountant by trade, is the clear frontrunner, although he has not yet confirmed he is interested in the position.
