The European Union yesterday confirmed Australia’s status as one of 13 countries that have the lowest risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) disease. Warren Truss, Australian Agriculture Minister, said livestock producers would not have to face additional compliance costs imposed on beef and sheep producers from high-risk countries as a result of the decision.
