Australian supermarket giant Coles has defended its decision to import up to 15,000 eggs from New South Wales-based Pace Farm into Tasmania for a national marketing promotion. The supermarket came under fire from John Groenewold, the president of the Tasmanian Commercial Egg Producers' Association, who claimed that importing eggs could result in the closure of local farms and job losses.
