Denis Eck, CEO of Coles Myer, said yesterday (12 December) that the online division of Australia’s largest general retailer supermarket group would greatly exceed initial expectations. E-colesmyer was launched in March of this year and so far online sales represent 12% of all electronic commerce in Australia.
When it was first launched the company expected the site to become profitable in 2003, but already sales for this financial years have topped A$300m, A$50m greater than expected.
