Frito-Lay Australia, a unit of US soft drinks and snacks maker PepsiCo, has said strong sales growth from its Red Rock Deli reduced-fat potato crisps range is helping to deliver sales volume growth of 6-7%.
Consistent sales of old favourites such as Smith’s crisps and Twisties are also helping to drive growth, reported the Australian Financial Review.
The company’s Smith’s unit has had to open a second production line at a Queensland plant to meet high demand for Red Rock Deli products.
Alex Stevens, managing director of Smith’s, said the salty snacks category had grown above the long-term average of 3%, according to the Review.
