AUSTRALIA: Hitch resolved in sugar assistance registration system
Australian sugar farmers wishing to apply for assistance within the framework of the new Federal package will be able to do so from today [Thursday]. Farmers who called the Centrelink hotline this week were told the forms were not yet available, prompting accusations from the ALP that the government was not honouring its pledge to assist sugar growers.

After a ten-day delay, the problem has now been resolved, and agriculture minister Warren Truss said that farmers could now register the package.
