Australian supermarket group Foodland Associated has announced that the managing director of its New Zealand division will retire at the end of this year.

Ted van Arkel will be succeeded at Foodland’s Progressive Enterprises by chief executive Richard Umbers from 1 December, reported the Australian Associated Press. Umbers joined Progressive Enterprises in April 2002, before which he worked as a regional manager for Aldi UK.
After his retirement from the post of managing director, Van Arkel will continue at Foodland as an adviser to the company.
