Rob Borbidge, leader of the Queensland Coalition, told the Australian National Competition Council (ANCC) to “get real”, following its proposals for sugar industry reform that Borbidge believes will prove disastrous.
Speaking yesterday, Borbidge argued that Graham Samuels council chairman should drop proposals to end aggregate sales by sugar producers.
Furthermore, he said that if the coalition party win the forthcoming election, on 17 February, the proposals would be dropped immediately.
The denouncement of the ANCC is proving a popular political call during the lead up to the election. One Nation Queensland party similarly attacked the council to gain the support of agricultural communities, calling for it to be dissolved.
