The Tasmanian government has urged the Australian government to place a ban on the import of raw salmon from Norway. According to Tasmanian environment minister Bryan Green the discovery of live sea lice in a shipment of Norwegian salmon in Sydney represents a potential threat to the state’s fish industry.

Green called for an immediate ban on Norwegian raw salmon imports in order to ensure Tasmania keeps its disease-free status, reported ABIX.
