The Returned Services League (RSL) has lambasted the latest lamb commercial produced by the Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) body

The commercial features a lamb cutlet bouncing along the altered lyrics to the Australian national anthem while it plays in the background.

Members of the RSL, a body established for the ex-service members of the Australian Defence Force, have argued that the bastardisation of  “Advance Australia Fair” into a meat-promoting jingle offends their patriotic sensibilities.

The MLA has meanwhile defended the advert – claiming that market research it has conducted shows that the public generally responded to it positively.
