US firm Back to Nature Foods is expanding its SnackWell's better-for-you range of cookies.

The company, owned by private-equity firm Brynwood Partners, is rolling out SnackWell's chocolate mint devil's food cookie cakes and 100% whole grain mini chocolate chip cookie bites. Both new snack options are free from high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial colours or flavours with an RRP of US$3.49.

"SnackWell's was one of the first brands to offer customers low-fat snack options, but today people need smart snack choices that are both flavourful and fit into their busy lives," said Vincent Fantegrossi, CEO Back to Nature Foods. "SnackWell's products provide a sweet but better-for-you treat that busy parents, teachers and kids getting back into the school year routine can enjoy while on-the-go."

SnackWell's products are distributed in the US through retailers, including Stop & Shop, Wegmans, Safeway, Walmart, Food Lion, Hannaford, ShopRite, PriceRite, Kroger, Publix and Target.
