Rudi De Becker will replace Hein Deprez as CEO, Univeg said yesterday (23 September).
Deprez will stay on as chairman of Univeg’s board of directors and chairman of the company’s strategic committee.
In his new role, Deprez will focus, “in close cooperation with De Becker”, on the strategic development of the company and on its core customer relationships, the company said.
Deprez said he was “delighted” De Becker had accepted the job as CEO of Univeg, where he already sat on the company’s board.

By GlobalData“His experience will be invaluable in further integrating the various operating entities of the Univeg group of companies and in further internationalising and streamlining the Univeg organisation,” Deprez said.
He added that the recent expansion of Univeg meant there was now a need for an executive to focus on developing the group’s strategy and another to manage the business on a day-to-day basis.
“In view of the various acquisitions in recent years and the global scale of the Univeg group of companies, a special focus is needed, on the one hand on the further development of the corporate strategy and on the other hand on the management of daily operations. Whereas my main responsibility will be the further strategic development of the group, the CEO will take care of the operational side,” Deprez said.
De Becker was CEO of consumer electronics group Hagemeyer between 2004 and 2008.
