Belgium’s second-largest supermarket chain said it had floated the idea of opening five new all-organic stores a year. An 11% rise in sales of organic produce in 2002 and 35% growth in 2001 has, however, encouraged the company to expand the amount of organics available in its existing supermarkets.

Delhaize says it sells one in every three organic items sold in Belgium and that 3% of food sales at its Belgian supermarkets are organic, reported Reuters.
