Consolidated revenue was up 7.4% on the same period of last year, primarily due to the inclusion of the results of Berkhout, bought in September 2007.

On a like-for-like basis, Ter Beke’s turnover decreased slightly in the first nine months due to a fall in sales in the traditional bulk channels and the termination of Belgian and German discounter contracts.

Company sales in the summer months July and August were below expectations. However in September, sales went up again, both in the processed meats and ready meals divisions, Ter Beke said.

The company said it expects its full-year results to “exceed” those of 2007, providing sales in the last quarter of 2008 are in line with previous years and the market environment does not “significantly” deteriorate.
