Switzerland-based Bell Group has struck a deal to buy Austrian poultry supplier The Huber Group.
Bell said today (16 December) it would take over the family-owned business in March. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huber comprises Hubers Landhendl – which Bell described as the “Austrian leader in the poultry market” – German turkey supplier Süddeutsche Truthahn, as well as a hatchery and a logistics company in Austria. It generates annual sales of EUR300m.
The company supplies Bell with poultry for products sold in Switzerland. Bell said the acquisition would give it access to poultry for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while “laying the foundation for future growth” in convenient poultry products. Bell will also enter new categories in Germany and Austria.
The transaction is subject to competition approval.
Bell also announced plans to invest in its existing facilities in Switzerland. The company is to draw up a “substantial investment programme” for new buildings and conversions between 2016 and 2025.
