Bernard Matthews, the UK turkey producer, has announced the appointment of Andy Deutsch to the new role COO.
Deutsch, who joined the company on 5 October, has worked in the food industry for over 30 years and brings experience in foodservice, chilled and frozen sectors to the poultry processor's management team.
Bernard Matthews would not comment on why the company had created the position.
Deustch was latterly managing director at Hain Celestial's UK arm Hain Daniels in food-to-go and desserts and its chilled and frozen subsidiary. He also held senior roles at Vion, Northern Foods and Fisher Foods.
"We are delighted to have Andy joining us at what is a very exciting time for the company, as we launch our new brand Identity, start our sponsorship of the Simpsons on Channel 4 and introduce British chicken products to our portfolio” said Bernard Matthews chief executive Rob Burnett, also a former Hain Daniels executive. "Andy’s experience and understanding of the food industry will play a key role in helping deliver our ambitious plans for the future."
As COO, Deutsch will be responsible for procurement, supply chain, planning and production.
