Beston Global Food Co. (BFC) has acquired cream cheese maker Australian Provincial Cheese (APC) for AUD2.2m (US$1.6m).

The deal, made via the Australian food group’s subsidiary Beston Pure Dairies, includes plant and equipment, trademarks, intellectual property and all other assets. APC produces cream cheese under the Mable’s and Grange Peak brands.

The company expects to grow the distribution of these gourmet cheeses utilising its domestic and Asian networks.

BFC said it will produce the Mable’s and Grange Peak products from its Murray Bridge site.

The chairman of BFC, Dr Roger Sexton, said that this was the first step in the company’s expansion strategy for the Murray Bridge site to develop a state-of-the-art cheese processing facility manufacturing a diverse range of high end, premium dairy products for both domestic and export markets.
