US group Borden Dairy is adding to the products it distributes locally for from Mexico's Grupo Lala.
Borden is selling a Lala Frutas dairy and fruit beverage line and a Lala Oaxaca cheese in southern California. The products will be launched in Texas later in the year.
"An estimated 10m Hispanic individuals reside in southern California, and they are interested in authentic Mexican brands with a genuine, made-in-Mexico taste. We are thrilled to bring some of Mexico's most-loved Lala products to our customers in the US," said Jenica Oliver, senior director of brand marketing and innovation at Borden.
Lala Frutas is a mix of low-fat milk and fruit. Borden cited data from Nielsen it said showed "50% of consumers don't prefer plain milk". The drink is available in strawberry and mango flavours.
The Lala Oaxaca cheese is "a stringy, hand-twisted queso with a smooth, mild flavor perfect for snacking", Borden added.
