“We’re projecting chicken shipments worth US$1.6bn this year, up 15% from last year’s previous record,” Claudio Martins, executive director of the Brazilian Association of Chicken Exporters (ABEF), was quoted by Reuters as saying.

At 1.6 million tonnes in 2002, Brazilian chicken exports are almost five times what they were ten years ago, making Brazil the world’s second largest chicken exported after the US.

So far this year, in January and February, chicken export were up 14% in value year-on-year.
