The Brazilian government, supported by Thailand, has appealed against a World Trade Organisation ruling on the European Union’s customs designation of frozen boneless chicken cut imports, claiming the WTO should have ordered the reclassification of more products.

Brazil had wanted the ruling to say cuts with 1.2% or more salt content should be classified by Brussels as salted, rather than frozen meat, (which attracts higher duty), but the panel restricted its decision to1.2%-3% content cuts. It and Thailand also want the WTO appellate body to clarify some legal issues over the international customs classification system. The EU is appealing against any kind of reclassification.
