Nestle has today (22 November) opened a milk factory in Brazil, creating 1,000 jobs.
The CHF83m (US$90.8m) facility in Três Rios, will initially produce UHT milk for Nestle’s Ninho and Molico brands, as well as soy-based product Sollys.

It will start to make Nescau ready-to-drink chocolate milk in 200ml and one litre formats in 2012.
When operational, the factory is expected to have a total annual production capacity of 124,000 tonnes.
It is expected to supply the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and São Paulo.
“The state of Rio de Janeiro is of increasing importance for us,” Nestle Brazil CEO Ivan Zurita said. “This factory will allow us to supply the market in Rio de Janeiro and the states of south east Brazil even more efficiently.”
