Brazilian grocer CBD has hired accountant Cláudio Galeazzi as chief executive after a board meeting yesterday (11 December).

The retailer, which fired previous CEO Cássio Casseb earlier this week, said Galeazzi would hold the role until April next year and would look to groom a successor from the company’s staff.
“Mr. Galeazzi’s appointment underlines the group’s commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance and professional management practices,” the CBD board said.
Galeazzi, 67, is the founder and partner of management consultants Galeazzi & Associados, which, CBD said, has “overseen the restructuring” of firms including household group Artex and can manufacturer Mococa.
