US retail giant Wal-Mart is to open a new outlet in the south of Brazil this week, bringing its total number of stores in the South American country to 144.
US retail giant Wal-Mart is to open a new outlet in the south of Brazil this week, bringing its total number of stores in the South American country to 144.
Wal-Mart recently became the third-largest retailer in Brazil when it acquired 118-store supermarket chain Bompreco from Dutch retailer Ahold.
The company’s new store is situated in the southern city of Curitiba, where it already has four stores, reports Dow Jones News. Wal-Mart has 25 stores in the south of Brazil, spread across four states. The Bompreco chain is situated in the north of the country.
