Brazilian meat supplier Cooperativa Aurora Alimentos has entered the country’s seafood sector.
Aurora has launched a range of skinless tilapia fillets in the south of Brazil.
The co-op has teamed up with another cooperative on the launch. C Vale Cooperativa Agroindustrial is manufacturing the product for Aurora, the meat processor said in a statement.
Meanwhile, within Aurora’s core business, the company reportedly announced last week it would stop production at one of its eight poultry plants for 30 days.
Reuters reported the pause at the site, located in Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, was the second in five weeks at one of Aurora’s facilities in the country. The newswire said Aurora had pointed to tough trading conditions amid restrictions on meat exports from Brazil and higher feed costs.
