BULGARIA: Beef imports from Romania will not be banned
Bulgaria's, agriculture minister, Ventsislav Varbanov, has moved to reassuring consumers that all the necessary precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of mad cow disease to the country. He revealed that there will not be a ban on beef imports from Romania because no cases of BSE have been found in the country.

Livestock, meat and meat products from Spain and Germany have already been banned, while on Wednesday (24 January) BSE concerns led Varbanov to reveal that beef imports from cattle over 18 months old would be banned from Italy.
