Attending the recent opening of the revamped Kaliakra margarine production unit, which Unilever acquired at the beginning of February, Unilever’s executive vice president of foods for Europe, Richard Oppenheim, said that the company planned a short-term investment of $1m and the commencement of the production of Unilever brands such as Rama.

The Kaliakra facility has been upgraded to an annual production capacity of 8,000 tonnes from 6,500 tonnes. The factory, which has an 80% share of the domestic margarine market, will also start producing 15g margarine packages to be sold to restaurants and hotels, Oppenheim said.
