OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers with allergies to hazelnuts not to consume Bella brand Sea Shell Chocolate. This product contains hazelnuts which are not declared on the french ingredient list. This alert is of concern only to those who are allergic to hazelnuts.


The affected product is the Bella brand Sea Shell Chocolate sold in 68g package with  UPC code  7 75026 01551 1. The product is imported from Turkey.


The importer, Les Aliments Papco Foods Inc., located in Ville St-Laurent (Quebec), is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. This product has been distributed in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.


Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to hazelnuts. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.


The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
