OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers with allergies to soy protein not to consume B-L brand Bacon Cheese Snack Spread also labelled as Cheese Sauce. This product contains soy protein which is not declared on the french ingredient list. This alert is of concern only to those who are allergic to soy protein.


The affected product is B-L brand Bacon Cheese Snack Spread also labelled as Cheese Sauce, sold in a 227 g plastic tub.  All best before date codes are affected.  The UPC is 070442400409.  This product is manufactured by Old Fashioned Foods Inc., Mayville, Wisconsin, United States.


The affected product has been distributed nationally and is being voluntarily recalled by the importing firm.


Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.


The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
