The Seal Forum, a meeting involving government officials, animal rights activists and seal hunters, took place in St. John’s, Newfoundland, to discuss changing existing regulation that prohibits hunting blue-back seals until the age of 14 months to two years of age and the hunting of baby seals until they moult their fluffy coats at two and a half weeks.
Seal hunters in the region say there is a growing demand for seal meat items such as salami as well as furs, said Canada’s Globe and Mail.
