SunOpta has warned investors that profits for its 2007 fiscal year will be lower due to higher auditing fees from the probe into its berry operations.

The Canada-based natural and organic food group said net earnings for the 2007 fiscal year would be C$0.00-0.02 per share.

The company has delayed filing its results for its 2007 fiscal year and for the first quarter of its 2008 accounting period due to an investigation into accounting at its berry division.

The warning over SunOpta’s 2007 figures comes two weeks after the company admitted that 2008 first-quarter earnings could fall due to costs linked to the probe.

SunOpta said it is aiming to file results for both periods by the end of July.
